In order to refurbish the ends of the bridge the whole structure was jacked up. Then the deteriorated wood sills were removed and replaced with concrete sills. The bridge was then lowered onto the new foundation. The ballast walls re re-installed, back filled and compacted. This procedure was repeated for the other end of the bridge.
